In observance of National Feral Cat Day on October 16th, Hill Country Animal League is dedicating the entire month to Community Cats. We’ll post links to valuable information about feral cats and community cats, the similarities, the differences, and the benefit of these cats in our communities. The focus, of course, will be on the importance of controlling the number of these cats through Trap/Neuter/Release (TNR) programs.
Many citizens take the initiative and contribute to TNR programs by feeding and trapping cats in their communities and bringing them to spay/neuter clinics in their area, then releasing them back into the community. These efforts help identify kittens that are “tamable” and can be adopted as house cats, help to minimize nuisance cats, and help prevent unnecessary euthanasia.
