What You Made Possible in 2025 – Our Impact Story
Hill Country Animal League Releases
Its 2025 Impact Report
Some impact is loud. Some impact is steady. And then there’s the kind of impact that quietly reshapes an entire community.
Hill Country Animal League is proud to share our 2025 Impact Report and Community Infographic, a reflection of what happens when prevention becomes accessible and generosity becomes action.
This report isn’t just numbers.
It’s what our sponsors and community donors made possible.
Prevention That Changes Outcomes
In 2025:
- 7,626 dogs and cats were spayed or neutered
- ~16,000 vaccines were administered
- 1,001 heartworm/4DX tests performed
- 1,600 pets microchipped
- 870 wellness visits provided
Each one of these numbers represents a family. A pet. A future altered.
Thousands of surgeries were performed on female animals who, without intervention, could have produced multiple litters over time. Even conservatively, that represents many thousands of puppies and kittens who will never enter an overcrowded shelter or face uncertain outcomes.
That’s what prevention does. It changes the trajectory before crisis begins.
Affordable Care That Keeps Families Together
Our average surgery cost in 2025 was $116. In many traditional veterinary settings, similar procedures can cost $500–$600 or more.
That difference isn’t accidental.
Hill Country Animal League focuses intentionally on spay, neuter, and basic wellness — preventive services that allow us to maintain high standards while keeping care within reach.
When care is affordable:
- Families don’t delay treatment.
- Pets stay healthier.
- Small problems don’t become emergencies.
- Animals stay where they belong — at home.
The Ripple Effect Beyond Individual Pets
The impact doesn’t stop at the exam table.
In 2025:
- 30 rescue partners worked alongside HCAL.
- 2,100+ rescue and community cat procedures were completed.
- 21 counties were served.
Every surgery helps stabilize local animal populations and reduces strain on shelters already working to manage intake.
This means:
- Fewer unplanned litters.
- Fewer preventable illnesses.
- Less strain on shelters.
- More pets living healthy lives at home.
That’s the bigger picture.
Powered by Community
This work is sustained by something powerful: everyday generosity.
In 2025:
- 250,000+ donated items were sold through the HCAL Thrift Store.
- Nearly $1,000,000 was generated to support affordable care.
- 1,358 donors contributed $51,000+, with most gifts averaging under $40.
Every action matters. Every role is essential.
- Some bring pets for care.
- Some shop or donate to the thrift store.
- Some partner through rescue work.
You don’t have to make a massive gift to make a massive difference.
2025 Impact Story
As our region grows, so does the need for accessible preventive care.
- Growth without access leads to overcrowded shelters and rising euthanasia rates.
- Growth with prevention leads to stability, health, and stronger communities.
Because of you, our impact builds year after year.
Whether you choose to donate, shop, volunteer, or simply share our mission — you are part of this story.
Thank you for helping shape a healthier future for pets and the people who love them.
