Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Offers Grant to Support Pets Affected by Texas Floods

We’re incredibly honored and excited to share that HCAL has been selected as a recipient of a generous grant from Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation–Tractor Supply Relief for Rescues Fund. This generous contribution comes at a critical time as our community continues to recover from the devastating floods that swept through the Texas Hill Country earlier this summer.

A Lifeline in Times of Crisis

The July 4th flash floods were among the worst our region has seen in years—tragically claiming lives and displacing families, both human and animal. As a local nonprofit committed to protecting pets and supporting pet owners, HCAL jumped into action to help animals affected by the disaster.

We’re grateful that our efforts caught the attention of the MuttNation Relief for Rescues Fund, a program created by country music star Miranda Lambert and powered by Tractor Supply Company, which provides fast, targeted relief to animal shelters responding to natural disasters.

“We are deeply grateful to Miranda Lambert and the MuttNation Relief for Rescues Fund for their support during this critical time,” said Becky Forrest, Executive Director of HCAL. “This generous grant ensures our ability to care for pets in communities recovering from tragedy.”

How the Grant Will Help

This funding will go directly toward expanding our emergency services for animals impacted by the floods, including:

• Low-cost and emergency spay/neuter surgeries

• Pet food distribution and veterinary care for displaced or affected animals

• Community outreach and recovery efforts for families with pets who are still struggling to rebuild

Our mission has always been to ensure that every pet—no matter the circumstance—has access to essential care. With the support of MuttNation, we can continue to stand by that promise, especially in moments of crisis.

More Than a Grant—A Shared Mission

This support from MuttNation speaks to a shared belief in the importance of spay/neuter services, education, and lifesaving intervention during emergencies. Since its founding in 2009, Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation has raised over $10 million in support of shelters across the U.S., and we are proud to be among this year’s grant recipients.

Thank You for Helping Us Help Others

To our supporters, donors, volunteers, and friends—thank you for continuing to believe in HCAL’s mission. This grant helps amplify what we can do, but it’s your daily encouragement that fuels our work.

Together, we’re not just recovering—we’re rebuilding stronger for the pets and people who need us most.
