Why Vaccines Matter Before Spay/Neuter Surgery
A Quick Guide for Pet Owners Preparing for Surgery
August is National Vaccination Month, making it the perfect time to highlight how staying up to date on vaccines plays a vital role in your pet’s overall health, especially when preparing for spay/neuter surgery.
At HCAL, we prioritize the health and safety of every pet that comes through our clinic. Vaccinations protect not just your furry family member, but the entire Boerne and Hill Country community. That’s why we’ve created a helpful Vaccine Checklist to make sure pet owners know what’s needed before their pet’s procedure.

Tips from HCAL’s Clinic Team
- Bring proof of vaccination to your pet’s surgery appointment.
- If your pet isn’t current, we can vaccinate at the time of surgery.
- When possible, vaccinate at least 2 weeks before the procedure for maximum protection.
