Santa Paws in Action: How You Can Help Barn & Porch Cats in Need

At one point or another, almost everyone can recall seeing or hearing about local barn or porch cats. These animals know how to make an outdoor environment their own, often compensating home or farm owners by taking care of a nagging bug, mouse, or lizard problem. The question is: Who’s taking proper care of that barn or porch cat?

 

Even the most independent cat needs certain health and wellness basics, including vaccinations, and pest and parasite prevention. These cats also need a safe, loving home that shelters them against extreme weather and dangerous predators. Last but not least, they need to be spayed or neutered. Spay and neuter surgeries prevent two cats from turning into a community of cats, each of which now need the same care.

 

That’s where donating to our end-of-year Santa Paws funding drive comes to these animals’ rescue. A $75 donation supports our efforts to trap, sterilize, and release barn and porch cats. Even if you can only spare $15, that donation will go toward rabies vaccinations to help protect these kitties’ lives.

 

Some of these cats will happily go on living the outdoor lives and paying their way, so to speak, by exterminating local vermin. But not every cat wants to stay outside. That’s why we’ll also be using incoming Santa Paws donations to help us local rescues by getting them out of the barn, off the porch, and into the comfortable, loving homes of their adoptive families. Additionally, the donation money will allow us to help low-income cat lovers pay for essential veterinary wellness services. Your donation is tax deductible, so It’s a win-win for everyone.
