In mid August, a little gray kitten was screaming from hunger behind one of our storage sheds. We started feeding it and were able to scoop it up by hand without a trap. It turned out to be very tame, and now Sookie has a forever home with one of our volunteers!

Then we began seeing three other kittens, but they were very skiddish…then we spotted mom, a calico denning in the brush just outside our fenced pen! We decided to set a trap for the mom first, since momma cats become trapwise pretty quickly. We had success on the first day! We fixed her and kept her for a couple of days, before releasing her back to her den area.

As we went about setting traps for the kittens, we spotted two large male cats near a dumpster a block away from our clinic. Guess who’s next?!
